Paleontology Project

Our 4th and 5th grade classes recently worked on a paleontology project. Students sorted and identified fossils from the Jurassic and Crustacean periods. It was a fun learning experience for all.

Governing Board Appointment

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jerome Simpson to the Seligman Unified School District Governing Board. The appointment is effective on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, and will conclude on December 31, 2018. The vacancy was created due to the resignation of board member Jan Lockhart who is moving out of state. We greatly appreciate Mrs. Lockhart’s service to the community.

The position had been posted for three weeks with no applicants. The position was re-posted with a closing date of November 3.

Prior to making the appointment, Superintendent Carter interviewed the candidates on Wednesday, November 8 in Seligman. He then spoke individually with each currently seated governing board member, the district superintendent, and several other members of the school staff to receive their feedback. Mr. Carter appreciates that he was contacted by several community members who offered their insights into the appointment as well.

Please take a moment to view the governing board appointment news release for additional details.
