Middle school girls travel to Chino Valley on Friday, Nov 3, 2023. high school boys and girls start their basketball practices from 3-6pm. I want to Thank Monica for all her help in controlling the kids at the middle school games on Friday, which is not her job. She ended up taking the decorations down so they wouldn't keep pulling them off. Our kids and other kids were out of control and no one to monitor or supervise them. I was keeping the official book and could only check on them once in awhile. I will talk to Tyson the coach on Monday to remind him he is in charge of the team at all times. They tore down all the decorations and pulled off the balloons that I TOOK away ..they were wrestling in the students lounge and Mandi had to run them off. Thank you

Middle School students enjoyed a field trip to the Teen Maze and then lunch at Peter Piper Pizza. Teen Maze is a community-driven event led by Catholic Charities, North Star Youth Partnership, Matforce, and the Yavapai County Community Health Services, to help youth experience the consequences of life choices and provide them with the information they need to make good decisions. It is like a life-size gameboard that teaches real-world lessons. Students navigate their way through the Maze by drawing scenario cards or spinning a wheel that educates on a myriad of topics, including alcohol and substance abuse with particular focus this year on fentanyl, marijuana, and vaping; self-care strategies; decision making and goal setting; resiliency; college and careers; online dangers; and distracted driving, to name a few.

New Middle School Girl's Basketball Coach Dear Members of the Seligman Unified School Community, I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. My name is Tyson Figueroa, and I am the newly appointed coach for the Seligman Middle School girls' basketball team. I am thrilled to be joining the Seligman Unified School district and becoming a part of this vital educational community. With a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration and my ongoing pursuit of a Master's degree in Psychology, I bring a diverse educational background that I believe will be a valuable asset to our students. My studies have given me a unique perspective on the intersection of education, psychology, and personal development, which I intend to apply in my role as coach. I am genuinely excited to embark on this journey with the Seligman Middle School girls' basketball team. This opportunity allows me to play a meaningful role in the lives of our students, fostering their academic success and personal growth through sports. I wholeheartedly believe in the balance between academics and athletics, and I am committed to ensuring that our girls excel both in their studies and on the basketball court. Sports, particularly basketball, can serve as a powerful vehicle for imparting essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, and resilience. These skills extend far beyond the boundaries of the court and enrich our students' educational experiences. My goal is to help them grow academically and personally while pursuing their passion for basketball. I acknowledge that I cannot achieve these objectives in isolation. I am eager to collaborate with the educators and staff at Seligman Unified School who play a pivotal role in our students' lives. If there are ways I can support your work in the classroom, please do not hesitate to reach out. Together, we can ensure that our girls receive the best of both worlds – academic excellence and athletic growth. Furthermore, I welcome any insights you may have about our students. Understanding their strengths, challenges, and interests will help me tailor my coaching approach to meet their individual needs, both in the classroom and on the court. I am genuinely excited to contribute positively to our students' growth and development, and to be a part of the Seligman Unified School community. I believe that education is an essential pillar of society, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to become a part of this important system. Thank you for your time, dedication, and commitment to our students. I look forward to a successful collaboration and to watching our students flourish both academically and athletically. Best Regards, Tyson Figueroa
